Summary:

Healthcare affects every American, especially if you have to visit the hospital. This week, President Obama unveiled his new Healthcare Reform plan and hosted a Healthcare Summit with Congressional Leaders.

Gen Next Los Angeles hosted the extremely timely debate of Healthcare Reform with guest speaker and CEO of Cedars Sinai Hospital, Thomas Priselac. Since its inception in 1902, Cedars-Sinai has evolved to become the largest nonprofit hospital in the western United States - one that is internationally renowned for the best patient care modern medicine has to offer.

Cedars Sinai is one of the largest, most well know medical institutions, and is certainly going to be affected by any reform. Priselac explained three big issues concerning Healthcare Reform:

1.) Cost of healthcare
2.) Quality of healthcare
3.) Access to healthcare and Health Insurance

“The Left would like to use the tax system and the Right would like to use the market forces. I believe we have to reach the middle to get healthcare to move forward.” Gen Next Members challenged the speaker with tough, intelligent questions on the flaws in the Medicare system, Tort Reform, and care for seniors. The informative discussion was ended by Priselac commenting, “you all are the most well-versed and educated group I have spoken to. I am very impressed.”

Very special thanks to Thomas Priselac for joining us.
