Congressman David Dreier, 26th District of California (GNLA)
November 08, 2012, 6:30pm
Just two days after the 2012 Presidential Election, David Dreier, United States Congressman and Chairman of the Rules Committee gave Gen Next Los Angeles Members an inside analysis of the 2012 Presidential election. It was during this fireside discussion at a private Malibu residence that David talked to us about the country’s future and a divided congress. Where do we go from here?
Here are the takeaways:
- Obama knows and is expected to address tax reform and entitlements. Congressman Drier is more optimistic about getting this done with Obama in office. He feels that the issues can be addressed more effectively without the party battle that would have taken place with a new Republican President.
- Congressman Drier began his talk by referencing Ronald Reagan. He feels that Regan always remained optimistic. He took office after the Carter administration which reflected 14% inflation, 17% interest rates, and massive unemployment.
- Congressman Drier also referenced a quote that he thought was applicable which is "uncertainty is the enemy of prosperity." It's a focus on the positive and holding true to one's individual truth, freedom, and prosperity that are imperative to moving forward.
