When Erik Halfacre became president of Traditional Jewelers in 2008, he was faced with a company that had lost it’s ‘leader’ and founder, Marion Halfacre just a year prior, an economy that was experiencing one of the biggest downturns since the depression, and a new store in Malibu that had to be nurtured and promoted alongside Traditional Jewelers’ flagship store in Newport Beach. CA.

An almost insurmountable task for a young man, whose initial passions in life revolved around athletics and competitive sport. When he was still attending high-school, Erik quickly was ushered into the family business during the summers, but when asked if he thought of joining the family business, there was usually an emphatic ‘no’. During this time he also had the opportunity to work with several of the largest sports agencies, which just increased his passion to pursue the dream of becoming a high profile sports agent.

After graduating high school, Erik attended USC where he majored in Economics and became a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. During those years he developed a greater interest in the family business and engaged himself more and more, eventually enrolling in the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, CA where he soon graduated with flying colors. During this time, and with his father Marion Halfacre as his mentor, Erik served several internships nationwide, and finally joined the family business full time.

With his father’s expert guidance, his advanced education, and fine insight and understanding of the dynamics of this 30-year old family business, success was destined to be by his side. Confronted with a wall of difficulties, Erik navigated the business into ‘safe harbors’ with expert buying decisions, modernization and successful restructuring of the business altogether.

During this time, in 2007, Erik and his lovely wife Bonnie got married, and are now the proud parents of two delightful little girls. Erik is a member of the Pacific Club and Gen Next, sits on the advisory board for the Centurion Jewelry Show and on the selection Committee for the Ronnie Lott Award. His hobbies include watching and participating in all sports, including basketball, baseball, football, soccer, boxing and horse racing. His favorite teams are the Lakers and USC Trojans. In his leisure time, Erik and his family enjoy traveling locally and abroad.

Other family members in the business include Erik’s wife, Bonnie, his mother Lula Halfacre, his aunt and uncle, Bruce and Sarah, and his sister Natalie.
