Ken Mehlman (Gen Next Advisory Council) is Managing Director and Head of Global Public Affairs at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co, LLP, where he focuses on constructive outreach to the numerous stakeholders of KKR and its portfolio companies around the world, overseeing public relations, government relations, investor relations and third party on a global basis.
Before joining KKR, Ken Mehlman was a Partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld where he helped businesses and individuals manage risk and seize opportunities at the nexus of business and public policy.
Ken Mehlman spent many years in public service, including as the 62nd chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2005-2007 and was campaign manager for President Bush's 2004 re-election campaign. Ken Mehlman has served in high level positions in Congress and the White House, including as White House political director during President George W. Bush from 2001-2004.
Ken Mehlman received his B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College in 1988 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1991.
Ken Mehlman is also a trustee of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Franklin & Marshall College and the Strong American Schools Foundation. Ken Mehlman serves as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Council on Foreign Relations Climate Change Task Force, the Senior Advisory Committee of the Harvard University Institute of Politics, the board of directors at the National Endowment for Democracy, and the executive leadership cabinet of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Foundation.
Ken Mehlman became the Managing Director and Head of Global Public Affairs for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) in May 2008.
