Yuri Vanetik (Gen Next Board Member, OC Executive Committee Member at-large, Gen-Equity Member) is a private investor and philanthropist.
Yuri Vanetik is the principal of Vanetik International, LLC, a private investment and management consulting firm. In the past, he served in executive capacity within the financial sector, and advised boards and principals of public and private companies on capital formation, marketing, acquisitions and dispositions, and other strategic business matters. Presently, he serves on corporate boards, boards of non-profits, and political organizations.
Yuri Vanetik began his business career, practicing corporate law with K&K Gates LLP (formerly Kirkpatrick & Lockhart LLP), in Pittsburgh, PA. Subsequently, Mr. Vanetik served as founding partner of Iger, Koehler & Vanetik, LLP, a law firm specializing in corporate governance, counseling boards of publicly traded companies and representing independent directors, and committees on which they serve. Generally, his legal practice and experience has centered on corporate finance.
Subsequently Yuri Vanetik transitioned into finance, quickly building a strong reputation as a savvy investor. In the finance industry, Mr. Vanetik organized and served as principal of a group of private equity funds, making investments in fixed income products and private equity transactions internationally. He currently serves as advisor to several financial institutions domiciled in US and abroad.
Yuri Vanetik is Commissioner of the Orange County Sheriff's Council, and a distinguished member of and Sergeant in the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department Special Services Bureau, and Los Angeles Sheriffs Department Professional Advisory Council. He is also a member of Advanced Disaster Action Team for San Bernardino.
Yuri Vanetik serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of American Red Cross (Orange County). Recently, he served as State of California Co-Chair for the Rudy Giuliani Presidential Campaign, and as All American Vice Chair for Rudy Giuliani Presidential Campaign, and subsequently was selected to serve on Senator McCain's Kitchen Cabinet. He was appointed to the Homeland Security Council for Region 1, and serves there on the Board of Governors.
Mr. Vanetik is a Lincoln Fellow at the Claremont Institute in California, and Trustee for the Kennedy Center National Symphony in Washington, DC. Recently, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Yuri Vanetik to serve on the California Criminal Justice Council. In 2010, Governor Schwarzenegger appointed Mr. Vanetik to the California Lottery Commission. Mr. Vanetik is on the advisory boards of the University of California Center for Unconventional Security Affairs, and the Pacific Research Institute.
He holds membership and/or board or similar positions in numerous civic/political, social, business, and community organizations. Some of these include: Gen Next and Gen-Next Foundation, Claremont Institute, American Enterprise Institute, Heritage Foundation, CATO Institute, Sheriffs Foundation, Law Enforcement Alliance; the Republican National Committee Regents, Republican Governors Association, National Republican Congressional Committee, Capital Hill Club, American Conservative Union, Center Club, Pacific Club, Shady Canyon Golf Club, the National Rifle Association, Center for Global Change, Miracles for Kids, Canyon Acres, Club For Growth, and National Geographic Foundation.
Yuri Vanetik holds a BA (Phi Beta Kappa) from UC Berkeley and a JD from UC Hastings. He is an executive graduate of UCLA Anderson Business School.
Yuri Vanetik resides in Southern California. He is fluent in Russian and English, and proficient in Spanish and German.
